Ibadan, the largest city in West Africa, is renowned for its unique chieftaincy system, a beacon of cultural heritage.

Ibadanland consists of over 3,069 Villages, 63 Towns and 11 Local Government Areas. The population spread has for a long time, not made it easy for the Traditional Head, The Olubadan, to have correct and accurate statistics and details about the various Ibadan Chieftaincy title holders – from Traditional Chiefs to MOGAJIS, BAALES AND HONORARY TITLE HOLDERS spread across the city.


To enable the Olubadan and other stakeholders maintain and monitor the cultural growth of the city and plan properly for the future development of Ibadanland, it has become necessary to have detailed and objective statistics that will capture all the various categories of Chiefs under the control of The Olubadan hence, the Chieftaincy Registry

High chiefs who support the Olubadan in governance and decision-making, embodying wisdom and experience.

Traditional Chiefs

Esteemed leaders in the Balogun, Otun Olubadan, and Iyalode lines, integral to Ibadan's governance structure.

Obas in Ibadanland (Royal Highnesses)
